Education and Resources Unit

The Education and Resources Unit is responsible for facilitating access to library collections, services and facilities. The team carries out the following tasks :

• Handling reference inquiries at the Reference Desk

• Handling reference inquiries via e-mails and voice mails

• Providing instructions for e-resources (online databases, e-journals, federated search engines and e-books)

• Providing information literacy classes for students and staff

• Producing handouts, brochures and guides

• Promoting library collections, services and facilities

• Maintaining the Reference Desk

• Providing access to electronic resources via EzProxy server
• Implementing preventive maintenance process for all library hardware
• Installing and testing new software related to library functions
• Maintaining computers for internet access and print stations
• Recommending work procedures related to automation and library systems
• Recommending and acquiring software and systems which are related to library functions

Resources Development and Metadata Unit

Resources Development and metadata unit is a unit which responsible for acquiring reading materials in all formats : physical and electronic to meet the needs of the university. The unit involves budgeting and negotiating with services provider to sustain the resources.

Besides, the unit also responsible in creating descriptive and discovery metadata for the library resources.
